NYAYA-SEVA
Justice that Reaches the Last Mile.
Focus Areas: Legal Aid | Justice Delivery | Institutional Reform
NYAYA-SEVA represents our signature commitment to access to justice—an area where very few NGOs work and where the need is enormous. India's justice system is severely overburdened, with millions of undertrial prisoners languishing in jails, often for years, simply because they cannot afford bail or legal representation.
We strengthen access to justice through direct legal aid services, legal literacy programs that empower communities to understand and claim their rights, paralegal training, and institutional capacity building that helps courts and prisons function more effectively and humanely. We also conduct research and advocacy to inform policy reforms that can improve justice delivery at scale.
Why This Matters
Over 70% of India's prison population consists of undertrials—people who have not been convicted but cannot afford bail. Many spend years in custody for offenses that carry sentences shorter than the time they spent in pre-trial detention. This is a justice crisis that demands urgent attention.
Legal professionals and paralegals, legal aid clinics and technology platforms, research and documentation, court liaison and case management systems.
